Educational Philosophy

Our school is a part of a quality worldwide educational system, the second largest private system in North America. We offer an exceptional educational program that emphasizes the basic fundamentals of education.  We believe that our children should acquire the ability to read with comprehension, express themselves in writing and speaking, wrestle with the absolutes of mathematics, and exercise deductive reasoning. The application of these basics to everyday life is the truest test of teaching.

Physical Development

We believe that an active lifestyle is a part of a lifetime of health.  Younger students enjoy the freedom of outdoor play on our spacious grounds, while upper graders learn good sportsmanship, fitness, and team play through physical education. Ninth and tenth grade students learn backpacking and outdoor living skills in the nearby Sierras.

All of our students enjoy annual ski trips to Dodge Ridge as part of our physical education program. The cost of ski lessons, rentals, and lift tickets is included in the cost of tuition.

Music

Participation in Choir, Band, Concert Band, or Handbell Choir are encouraged for grades 5-10, and private instrument lessons are available at all levels.  Students in every grade are given an opportunity to learn group singing, and perform at school programs throughout the year.

Technology

Each classroom is equipped with up-to-date computers and  opportunities to use them for educational purposes.  Students in the upper grades are taught technical skills in our fully equipped computer lab.  Students in seventh through tenth grades are issued iPads to prepare them for college-style class participation.  The seventh & eighth grade students are working with two Lego Robots. They are preparing for a meet in February where they will show off their programming skills by having a robot complete multiple tasks. The other major component is to research and present information about how robots could be utilized in a natural disaster in the future.

The Bible as a Life Guide

The textbooks we use, curriculum content and lecture presentation are all based on the foundation of the Bible as the dependable source of truth.  Academic excellence is achieved through an understanding of Jesus Christ as Creator and Savior of our world.  Students of all faiths and financial levels are welcomed to join in the MLAJA experience of Christian education.
