What we teach

Mother Lode Adventist Junior Academy uses the learning standards of the North American Division of the Seventh-day Adventist church to guide our classes and associated curriculum. All classes contain a course focus that focuses learning first on God and secondly on a rigorous academic approach for both skills and knowledge. Our curriculum includes the following and more:

By Design– A science curriculum in grades 1-8 based on student investigative observations. Biblically based with a focus on intelligent design and God’s Creation. Rigorous and engaging in its focus.

Encounters– Our Bible Curriculum in grades 1-10 uses the Encounters Curriculum. This curriculum sequences itself, so that students study in depth all parts of the Bible. A focus is given in encountering and knowing God as a personal savior. The Bible is used as the main textbook with this curriculum.

Big Ideas- Our math classes use the Big Ideas Curriculum in grades 1-8. This curriculum pushes students to excel at mathematics through a variety of inductive reasoning exercises, guided practice, and individual practice. Our standardized exam (NWEA MAP) directly ties in with the curriculum to provide individualized instruction.

Stepping Stones- a holistic curriculum used in Kindergarten ties all subjects together in thematic related units, allowing learning to be very engaging and a whole lot of fun.

Pathways- Our reading program in 1st-8th grade allows students to become lifelong readers through reading a variety of books. This is strengthened with use of the Renaissance Advanced Reader program that ties in with our library holdings to give students a voice and options in extending their reading growth.
